Everything you need to know about the Health Controls before traveling to Spain
If you are traveling to Spain soon, you should know that the Spanish Ministry of Health has launched the Spain Travel Health (SpTH) program, which establishes a health control protocol at airports for all persons traveling to Spain from other countries, regardless of their nationality, age, or any other consideration. It is necessary to complete and sign the Health Control Form (FCS) 48 hours before arrival in Spain and obtain the QR code associated with the trip. You can obtain it from the SPTH website or from the SPTH mobile application and it is necessary to have the flight details.
What do I need to fill in the health control form?
- Identity document number (passport, ID card, etc.)
- Information about your flight
- Information about your stay in Spain
- E-mail address
How can I get the QR code?
You will receive a PDF document with the QR code in your email, or directly on your cell phone if you create the FCS form and fill it in through the SPTH mobile application, downloadable from the SPTH website or in the application for Android and Apple devices. You will have to show the QR code of your trip, in order to pass the sanitary control established at the airport. Keep in mind that the Spanish authorities can perform a medical evaluation when you arrive in the country if they deem it necessary.
If I don’t have an e-mail address, can I use someone else’s?
Yes, you will be able to use the email of a companion or a family member, although if you have a Smartphone (Android or iOS), you have at least one associated email account.
Where do I have to present the QR code upon arrival in Spain?
When you arrive in Spain you will have to swipe the QR code on the QR code devices that will be properly signposted at the different airports.
Can I get the QR code from the paper form?
Yes, once you have completed the process, you can obtain the QR code in electronic format or print it on paper from the PDF that you will receive by e-mail. Remember that it is mandatory to have the QR code that appears when filling in the FCS to pass the sanitary control upon arrival in Spain.
Is it possible to modify the form once I have obtained the QR code?
Yes, once you have signed and obtained the QR code, you can modify your personal data at any time. Once the changes have been made, a new QR code will be generated and you will have to present it at the airport. To modify it you will need to provide the form identifier or your passport number, ID or personal identifier, flight number and arrival date.
How can I get the QR code if I don’t know the address of where I’m staying?
Only the city and the autonomous community are mandatory. Therefore, with these two pieces of information you can obtain the QR code.
If I don’t have a seat on the flight yet, can I get the QR code?
We advise you to check-in in advance as this field is mandatory, so you will not be allowed to close the form until you have completed it.
How do I know that my form has been saved correctly?
If the FCS has been completed correctly, you will receive a message indicating that you will receive an email with the QR code of your trip.
How can dependents or minors obtain the FSC?
In the case of minors, dependents or legally incapacitated persons, there is a box on the form to be filled in by the guardian or legal representative. If the minor is traveling alone, he/she must present his/her QR code, even if it has been completed by his/her parents or guardians.
Can I create an FCS for a family or group?
Yes, within the application or on the website you have the option for family or group. To create it you must indicate the data of the person in charge and fill in the data of each of the passengers that make up the family or group.
A QR code will be generated for each passenger in the group. The only requirement to be part of a group is that there is a person responsible for the group, that they are traveling on the same flight and that they share the same country of departure.
What does it mean to be responsible for a family or group?
It means that you complete the FSC on behalf of all members of the group and that you are responsible for the accuracy of the information provided.
