ETA, the permit for Europeans and visa-exempt travelers in the UKduguech
ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization UK – ETA UK) is the official permit that the United Kingdom will launch this 2023 for European citizens and visa-exempt travelers.
According to the Government, the measure is designed to improve control of British borders, digitize border systems, and provide more detailed information on the number of people traveling to the UK; in addition to making the country a safer destination.
Although the period of validity of this permit has not yet been announced, Government sources indicate that it is based on the ESTA system of the U.S. That is, it may be valid for at least two years and for multiple trips.
The first beneficiaries of the measure will be Arab countries, as reported by the Government, as Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) passport holders will be the first nationalities included in the UK visa waiver system once it is implemented in 2023.
As explained by the Government, ETA UK is not a visa and Europeans and travelers from countries such as the United States and Canada will retain their visa exemption but will need an ETA to enter the UK.
