4 month extension for three Brexit measures
With Brexit, the United Kingdom ceased to be a member state of the European Union and became a third country.
Some of the measures contemplated in UK’s Withdrawal Agreement from the EU expire next June 30, but circumstances determine that it is prudent to extend the period of validity for four more months, “in particular with respect to the measures contemplated in Articles 11 and 15 and in the third additional provision of Royal Decree-Law 38/2020, of December 29,” according to the Official State Gazette.
As reported in the BOE, the Council of Ministers has agreed to extend the effective status, from July 1 and until October 31, 2021, in relation to:
The measures of homologation, declaration of equivalence and validation of studies in such a way that no apostille of the Hague Convention will be required for applications that had been submitted before November 1, 2021.
Regarding the holders of driving licenses issued by the British authorities, valid and in force, which entitle to drive in the EU.
In respect of healthcare in relation to Gibraltar. The measure will cease to apply if prior to the expiration date the EU and the UK reach an agreement on healthcare within the scope of its material application.
