The measure facilitates and streamlines permits and approvals for health personnel such as doctors, nurses, dentists, laboratory technicians or pharmacists.

The new procedure will grant work permits to those who already legally reside in Spain. Priority was given to those who have passed the MIR, but who have had no place, and to foreign resident doctors in their last year of training.

The measure also includes asylum seekers trained in health areas who have been in Spain for less than six months and who do not have work authorization; as well as qualified immigrants who have a residence permit that does not authorize them to work.

Professionals who meet the requirements would be granted a residence and work authorization valid throughout the national territory during the state of alarm caused by COVID-19. It will have a maximum validity of one year. After this time, the professionals allowed them to use the current legislation to renew their permits.
