Russia: New obligations for businesses
From 16th January 2019, the Russian Federation has imposed new regulations on companies with regards to foreign nationals and business travelers invited to enter the country for professional reasons by a local business or legal entity. Federal Law 19.07.2018 # 216-FZ specifies that companies and legal entities who wish to invite foreign citizens to Russia will be obliged to guarantee that the visitors comply with their stated dates of entry and prompt exit of the country.
The law, which is expected to expand to include wider specific measures, calls for an increased level of control for companies whose visitors come from countries that require a visa to enter Russia.
Failure to comply will result in the following fines:
Company Officials: RUB 45,000-50,000
Legal Entities: RUB 400,000-500,000
Individuals: RUB 2000-4000
