Do you know when to submit the residency renewal documents?
For those who are in the process of residency renewal, it’s important to know that the documentation must be submitted within 60 days prior to the expiration of the authorization or, exceptionally, within 3 months after expiration; in this case, you may be subject to a penalty.
The anticipated presentation, outside the established deadlines previously indicated (60 days) makes the application inadmissible.
In addition to adjusting the presentation times, it’s necessary to consider that, in order to qualify for the renewal of the temporary residence, it’s mandatory to not have remained outside of Spain for more than 6 continuous months. If this time exceeds, the authorization may be extinguished.
If you have changed residence and the province during the validity of the authorization, at the time of renewing the authorization, you must assess which province corresponds to the process, so you must have updated the registration at the town hall.
However, if the renewal of residence is for long term, it will be necessary to consider other limitations regarding the time of stay outside Spain. In the 5 years preceding the application for long-term residence it’s mandatory to not have remained outside of Spain for more than 10 months (summing all the exits of the country). In addition, you must not have been abroad on a continuous basis more than 6 months.
