Panama’s economic growth lures foreigners
Panama has welcomed a great number of foreigners with working visas during 2015. Economic growth and great opportunities are the main attractions of the central american country. Officials have issued 20,369 work permits. That is 67.7% more from the 12,141 of the previous year.
Most of the immigrants come from Venezuela and Colombia. Both countries have about the same numbers of expats in Panama for a total of 11,400 new between the two of them in 2015. Officials point out that many of the working permit renewals are within the “Crisol de Razas” (Races melting pot) migration program carried out during the Ricardo Martinelli administration. “Crisol de Razas” was created to letanyone with invalid work permits to stay in the country.
Due to its geographical position, economic growth and work opportunities, Panama is becoming an increasingly attractive destination to anyone who looks forward to “start a new life”
