New regulations for the European Travel Authorization System ETIAS
On August 3, the regulation that will allow the future European Travel Information and Authorization System ETIAS to be interoperable with other EU information systems came into force. This means an important step forward in the implementation by the end of 2022 of the ETIAS system, which will allow citizens who want to travel to the Schengen area and are exempt from the visa requirement, to travel by simply registering on the platform and obtaining an authorization before traveling.
This ETIAS travel authorization system will be connected to the Schengen Information System (SIS), the Visa Information System, the Entry/Exit System (SES) and the criminal records database of third-country nationals before issuing the travel authorization.
Third country nationals who are exempt from visa requirements must complete the form online, it will cost seven euros, will be valid for 3 years and will be valid for multiple entries. If you want more information, here is how to apply for the ETIAS permit to travel to Europe.
