June 30 is the deadline to apply for residency in the UK
Next June 30 is the end of the EU Settlement Scheme, the program designed for EU citizens to regularize their situation in the United Kingdom in the context of Brexit. That is to say, those who have not availed themselves of the scheme have until that date to apply for legal residence.
The British Government has informed that EU citizens who have not applied for residency will be notified by mail to legalize their situation.
Despite requests from several social organizations to extend the application deadline, the British Government has been emphatic that there will be no extension. Those who can prove legal residence in the UK before December 31, 2020 will be able to apply for residency until June 30.
In addition, according to the Home Office, “application certificates” will be issued to those who have initiated the regularization process and have not yet received a response. Those who have moved to the country during 2021 will not be eligible for the application scheme.
