Israel implements a new work visa
The Interior Ministry of Israel announced a new form of work visa, exclusively for foreigners with knowledge of technology or mechanics.
The process for applying for this work visa is similar to that for obtaining a regular B-1 work visa. The regulation establishes that foreigners must be directly employed by the employer and not by third parties.
In addition, the contracting company must submit a written request for each of the foreign workers to be hired. This application must include: the description of the project, the corresponding contract and the necessary documentation that certifies the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant and their relationship with the technology and the mechanization of the project.
This new category of visa does not require as a requirement the one related to the payment of the employee’s salary (which is double the average salary of Israel) and that is obligatory for the B-1 visa. However, it is required to comply with other standards and conditions of employment, such as adequate housing, medical insurance and access to social benefits for foreigners.
The approval process is approximately six months from the time of your request. This new regulation, according to the Israeli Interior Ministry, has been established to determine what types of projects require foreign technologically or mechanically skilled and support this specific sector.
