Greece offers Schengen visas to Russian citizens
In order to stimulate tourism, Greece is offering long-term Schengen visas to Russian citizens who apply for it. The only requirement is that the applicant must have been in European territory at least once before. This visa has 3 or 5 year duration and is valid for multiple entries. The news was confirmed by the Interfax news agency on Thursday.
In March 2015 about 10,000 Russian tourists traveled to the Hellenic country and the number has increased by 523.6% since that date. According to Deputy Foreign Minister Nikos Ksidakis, Greece is ready to receive more tourists, therefore the country is prepared to issue about 10,000 visas a day.
The ban on flights from Russia to Egypt and Turkey has helped Greece to become one of the most visited destinations by Russian citizens.
