Germany agrees on migration law for qualified professionals
Facing a shortage of qualified workers in various sectors, the members of Germany’s coalition government have recently reached an agreement on a new migration law for qualified professionals that could benefit non-EU citizens.
Under the new law, foreign professionals with a high level of German will be permitted to work for up to 5 years, or remain in the country for up to 6 months looking for work in their field of expertise.
During these 6 months, said professionals will have to demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to support themselves, and will not be able to claim welfare benefits.
