France announces new visa for technology companies
France has recently announced that it will grant a Visa Tech for companies, employees and investors. This visa type will allow highly qualified talent to obtain a residence permit known as a “Talent Passport“. The advantages of having this document are:
- It has a validity of four years, renewable.
- It extends to the immediate family: spouses and dependent children also receive residence permits authorizing them to live and work in France.
- No additional work permit is required.
Entrepreneurs must meet the following requirements: have an economically innovative project; Have the approval of a French public organization called “Direccte” and sufficient financial resources. In the case of requesting employees, they must have a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or higher; An employment contract with a minimum duration of 3 months with a French company and a gross annual salary of at least 35,526.40 euros.
Investors must have at least 300,000 euros to invest in tangible or intangible fixed assets; Invest directly or through a company in which they have at least 30% of participation; Own at least 10% of the enterprise in which they invest and create or protect (or undertake to create or protect) jobs within four years of the investment.
French President Emmanuel Macron has announced this new visa program to attract international talent, while seeking to boost the country as a technology center.
