Chile’s President, Michelle Bachelet, announced the launching of the “Visa Tech”, a temporary working visa aimed at professionals exclusively in the technology industry. The processing time of this permit will be only 15 days.
The Visa Tech is aimed at:
- Owners, partners or investors of technology service companies located in Chile.
- Highly qualified professionals or technicians of technology sciences who wish to make a temporary displacement to some technological company in Chile which has been awarded the subsidy of the program Star-Up Chile.
The exact date on which this visa may start to be processed is unknown, however, it’s already known that only companies which are under programs such as Start-Up Chile, InvestChile or members of Chiletec under the patronage of the the Undersecretary Of Economics will be able to apply.
To apply, the aforementioned entities will have to inform via e-mail to the Foreign Office (at least 10 days prior to the arrival of the applicant) that the applicant will enter Chile as a tourist and that they have some of the pre-selection certifications. After the foreign worker is in Chile, Visa Tech’s application will be submitted via email, along with the required general documentation. Once the documentation has been submitted, the visa will be delivered within 15 days.
