The Importance of Change Management for Your Business
Whether its a new operating system, a merger, employee relocation, or an outsourced project, change can be a source of frustration, confusion, and uncertainty. Managing change requires business leaders to use the right tools at the right time, as part of a strategy that involves the whole company.
Change Management is the practice of preparing employees for change and supporting them during the process so that they adapt to the new reality as successfully as possible.
The three levels of Change Management Level 1: Individual change management This phase focuses on how people experience change, drawing on techniques from psychology and neuroscience to help identify the messages employees need to hear, or the right moment to introduce training in a new task. Level 2: Organizational change management During this more widely-focused phase, you’ll identify groups of individuals who will need to change as a result of the specific project, and put together a strategy to ensure that these employees receive the training necessary to successfully handle the change. Level 3: Company change management This phase builds on the work done in the previous two phases. At this point, systems are set up to measure employees’ levels of adaptation to change, and processes are established which can then be replicated, saving time and money in the future.
Projects with excellent change management protocols are up to 6 times more likely to succeed than those with a low level of change management.
Given that company changes are made by the people who work there, it’s crucial for every business to have someone on the ground to help employees take the necessary steps.
