Canada creates visa program for highly qualified professionals
On 12 June, the Government of Canada announced the launch of the fast-track visa program for highly qualified professionals. The objective is to attract trained foreign workers to the country and thus stimulate economic growth.
The program seeks to reduce the processing of work permit applications and temporary residence visas to highly qualified talents within a two-week period. This procedure was previously carried out within a period of six months to one year.
The government has stated that this initiative entitled Global Talent Stream will operate as a pilot program for at least two years and is exclusively for companies that require very high level workers, mainly in the technology sector.
In the list presented Monday by the Federal Government, professionals related to: system engineering, computer, analysts and system consultants, as well as developers, predominate.
