Announce new measures for foreign workers in Panama
The Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (MITRADEL) of Panama issued a statement recently, stating the need to modify the requirements to hire highly qualified foreign employees. This measure affects two specific categories: visas for friendly countries and professional foreigners.
The new measure, although not yet official, proposes that the contract of employment and payroll of the contracting company should be included; In addition, all the documents indispensable for the applications for work permits.
The employer must comply with the stipulated regulation, which states that: 90% of the employees must be Panamanians, in the case of non-technical personnel and 85% Panamanians, for those who perform a technical specialty. The objective is to ensure that all companies comply with the percentage of local workers and foreign workers established by the Labor Migration Law.
