Spain will request a negative PCR test from travelers from countries at risk
As of November 23, and until the end of the state of alarm in Spain due to COVID-19, travelers from countries classified as “at risk” must present a negative PCR test at all air and sea ports of entry to the country.
If you plan to travel to Spain soon, take into account the health control measures established by the Spanish Government, announced in official state means (BOE):
The PCR test must be carried out within the seventy-two hours prior to arrival in Spain. The document must be original, written in Spanish and / or English and may be submitted in paper or electronic format. It must contain the name of the traveler, passport number or national identity document, date of the test, contact details of the center that performed the analysis, technique used and negative test result.
The temperature is taken with thermographic cameras, with a temperature detection limit equal to or greater than 37.5 ºC.
All passengers who wish to enter Spain by air or sea must complete a public health form called “Sanitary Control Form” before leaving their country.
If, after the temperature control and documentary control, the authorities determine that there is a suspicion that the passenger may suffer from COVID-19, the traveler must undergo the PCR established by the external health services at the port of arrival.
Other diagnostic tests such as rapid antibody tests, rapid antigen detection tests or high-performance serologies (ELISA, CLIA, ECLIA) will not be accepted so long as their use is not harmonized in the European Union.
The list of countries or risk areas, as well as the criteria used to define them, will be reviewed every fifteen days and their update will be published on the website of the Ministry of Health.
As part of the control carried out at the ports of entry, the passenger may be asked to accredit the result of the negative test at any time.
The negative PCR certification applies to international passengers whose final destination is Spain. Not for international travelers in transit to another country.
