The Government has extended the extension of the temporary restriction order for non-essential travel from third countries until midnight on October 31, according to the Official State Gazette (BOE).

The European Union, however, established a list of third countries whose residents are exempt from the restrictions, as well as specific categories of individuals also exempted, regardless of their place of origin.

In view of the worsening of the epidemiological situation due to Covid-19 in several countries, this recommendation has been modified on several occasions. Currently, the countries whose residents are free of restrictions are:

• Australia
• South Korea
• Canada
• China
• Georgia
• Japan
• New Zealand
• Rwanda
• Thailand
• Tunisia
• Uruguay

In addition, they are exempt from these restrictions:

• Regular residents of the European Union.
• Schengen associate states, Andorra, Monaco, The Vatican (Holy See) or San Marino.
• Holders of a long-stay visa issued by a Schengen member or associate state going to that country.
• Healthcare professionals.
• Health researchers.
• Senior care professionals.
• Transportation staff.
• Diplomats.
• Students or relatives traveling for duly accredited imperatives.
