The Government of the Russian Federation has announced that citizens of more than 50 countries, including Spain, may visit St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region with an electronic visa.

As of October 1, the city known as the “Venice of the North” is opening its doors to a greater number of visitors, via a free visa that should be requested no later than four days before the scheduled date of travel.

As reported on the website of the St. Petersburg Committee for Tourist Development, the visa will be valid for up to 30 days, with an allowed stay of up to eight days.

The new immigration measure was announced as part of the Welcome to St. Petersburg! Road Show, which has toured cities like Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Seville, Valencia and Lisbon during October in order to exhibit the city’s tourism potential.
