The Gold Card programme of the United Arab Emirates will grant permanent residence visas to investors and people with training in medicine, engineering, science, and the arts.

The permanent visa would also be given to people “with exceptional talent” who can “contribute positively to the success of the United Arab Emirates,” according to official sources.

So far, a sponsorship system allows foreign citizens to obtain time-bound, though renewable, residence permits.

Since the announcement of the measure, 6,800 investors have benefited.
