The V visitor visa is a new type of visa for Colombia that allows its holder to carry out specialized work of short duration in Colombia. On December 15, 2017, the government of Colombia simplified its visa system, and now offers only three types of visa: the V visitor visa, the R resident visa, and the M immigrant visa.

The V visitor visa is suitable for temporary visitors who do not have the intention of permanently establishing themselves in Colombia. The V visitor visa authorizes its owner to invest or create companies, perform market studies, conduct business oversight or perform short-term specialized work. This visa is therefore recommended for those planning to perform technical assistance work in Colombia for a period of less than one year, or for investors who intend to conduct a business trip or market research trip relating to their commercial sector.

The Government of Colombia does not require a visa for citizens of a number of countries. However, if your visit to the country occurs for any of the specific purposes of the V visitor visa, we highly recommended that you request one. For example, a Spanish citizen is not obligated to apply for a V visitor visa. However, if his/her purpose is to carry out a work-related activity in Colombia, it is advisable to apply for it.
