Portugal applies new requirements for foreign workers
Portugal has implemented what was agreed in the 2014 Directive on the posting of temporary workers, which requires companies to sponsor a foreign workers to work, notification to the Labor Conditions Authority (ACT) before Start the assignment in Portugal.
Previously this notification was not necessary, but now it must be communicated at least 48 hours before the start date. Employers must provide: the employment contract, payroll, pay stubs, service provider, estimated duration of the assignment, address of the place of work and the nature of the services.
The mentioned documents must be presented by e-mail in Portuguese and accompanied by a translated copy.
Just as Spain implemented changes in temporary movements, now Portugal joins the EU Directive, which has entered into force on 31 May. From this date, foreign companies that send workers to Portugal, must adjust their procedures to this new regulation.
