The Australian government continues to adjust the 457 visa application process for qualified foreign workers and is now stricter. In this alert published in February, it was announced that the duration of the visa was reduced, after the employment contract ended. Now the new measure says that about 650 eligible professions will be eliminated from the list.

Sectors such as: restoration, IT and medicine; (24.6 per cent), the United Kingdom (19.5 per cent) and China (5.8 per cent). However, the Australian government noted that the new measure is to prioritize the hiring of nationals.

The changes will also require that applicants have a criminal background check and are subject to the necessary tests required in the labor market. However, the current holders of the 457 visa will not be affected by the changes established.
