
Restriction on Spanish borders by COVID-19
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAEC) has announced that Spain has reestablished border control. Moreover, these measures are a coordinated effort with its European partners, as part of the containment measures of COVID-19.
The accelerated advance of the COVID-19, the ease of contact and the protection of the health and well-being of the Spanish, is what has motivated the implementation of the measure. In fact, these mesure entered into force on March 17 and will be in effect until the alarm state ends.
Area of application
- Entry to the country is allowed, which allows Spanish citizens, residents, cross-border workers who require entry due to force majeure or need.
- The transportation of goods to request supply is exempt from the application of the measure.
- Spaniards who wish or need to return to Spain are allowed to enter.
- In addition, Consular offices and embassies abroad are providing the necessary help for tourists to return.
