Increase in amount required to obtain EB-5 visa for the United StatesErika
The investment required for shareholders requesting the EB-5 visa, or investor visa, in the United States, has increased from US$500,000 to US$900,000.
The Immigrant Investor Visa can be applied for by foreign citizens demonstrating the required transactions in a commercial enterprise in the United States; or capable of generating a minimum of ten full-time jobs for American workers or permanent residents.
Known as the “golden visa”, the EB-5 visa grants the following benefits:
- permanent residence
- access to the US education system
- work permit
Those who obtain the EB-5 visa also acquire many benefits as of the initial investment, including relocation to the United States with their family, with each person receiving a Green Card.
Since the administration of former President Barack Obama, the permit has been granted based on an investment of US$500,000. However, the current administration intends to strengthen foreign direct investment and is taking these measures to address the global slowdown.
If you are interested in applying for this visa, we recommend consulting a professional and pressing forward with the lodgement of the investment as soon as possible. At Duguech&Dip, we are experts in immigration and international mobility, and we’d love to help – so please feel free to give us a ring.
